The Imitation Game Actor Charles Dance claimed in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that Britain had “f***ed up” the Middle East with the Balfour Declaration.

While admitting he was “a bit obsessed” with the conflict in the Middle East, the Game of Thrones actor claimed that Britain should apologize for supporting the recognition of a Jewish homeland.

“I’m a bit obsessed at the moment with what’s happening in the Middle East, he admitted. “Anyone with a conscience should be.”

"Even if [the Israel-Hamas war] stopped tomorrow, there would not be peace in the Middle East until the Balfour Declaration is unpicked,” Dance claimed, not addressing how doing so would bring an end to the many religious and geographic conflicts in the region. "France and England need to announce: ‘Sorry, we f***ed up’.”

Questioned more on his assertion, Dance told the interviewer, “It’s very complicated. And no, indeed [there wasn’t anywhere for the Jews to go]. But it’s very apparent the mess that was created.”

Speaking against Israel

Dance has been one of many actors vocally condemning the Jewish state following Hamas’s devastating attack.

Only weeks after terrorists invaded southern Israel and massacred 1,200 people, taking an additional 251 captive, Dance signed an open letter under the banner "Artists for Palestine UK" calling for a ceasefire, aid in the Gaza Strip and an end to support to Israel.

Last year, he also condemned Israel’s “genocide” at the  Palestine Festival of Literature.

The actor’s interest in the Middle East seemingly predates the conflict, as he began working on a historical docudrama series with Qatari media giant Al Jazeera in 2020.
