The “power couple” of the sports world has officially separated. Ana Ivanovic confirms the divorce from Bastian Schweinsteiger due to “irreconcilable differences” – after he was seen with another woman. The Serbian tennis star and the former German star of Bayern Munich and Manchester United decided to part ways after nine years of marriage. Ivanovic's lawyer published an official statement about the divorce.

Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger were considered one of the most iconic couples in the sports world thanks to their personal achievements and were married in a lavish ceremony in Venice in 2016. The two good-looking athletes were dubbed “the perfect couple of sports.” They first met in 2014 when Schweinsteiger played for Bayern Munich. A year later, he moved to Manchester United, while Ivanovic was approaching the end of her tennis career.

The wedding took place in July 2016, and Ivanovic, who won Roland Garros in 2008, retired from tennis in December that year. The couple has three sons together, the youngest of whom was born less than two years ago. The names of the two older boys are Luka and Leon, but the name of the third child has not been revealed to the public.

After months of speculation regarding their relationship status, Ivanovic's representative, lawyer Christian Schertz, announced that the two are divorcing due to “irreconcilable differences.” According to a report by the German newspaper BILD, the lawyers emphasized that no further statement would be made by the couple and requested that their privacy and the privacy of their children be respected.

In the past, it was reported that the couple was in a “deep crisis,” mainly due to different lifestyles: Schweinsteiger had to travel frequently for his work as a commentator, while Ivanovic spent more time in Serbia, where she received help from her family in raising the children in the capital, Belgrade.

Their last public appearance together was at the Laver Cup last September in Berlin. Later, they shared a photo from a Christmas event, but since then, joint appearances have dwindled.

In June, the German media reported that Schweinsteiger was seen kissing another woman – whom he allegedly met through their children’s school. According to reports, the woman’s first name is “Silva,” she is of Bulgarian descent, and traveled with him on a vacation to Mallorca, after they had already been spotted together on a previous trip to Morocco.

Meanwhile, Ivanovic was recently in London for the Wimbledon tournament – where she reached the semi-finals 18 years ago, when she was ranked number one in the world.
