The owner of a pet lion that escaped and attacked a woman and two children in Lahore was arrested by Pakistani authorities, according to authorities and international media reports from last week.

The woman and both children, aged 5 and 7, were taken to the hospital for treatment for the injuries sustained during the attack. The women and children were not related, an official told CNN.

The women and children are all in stable condition, according to the Associated Press. They sustained injuries to their faces and arms.

Lion attack in Lahore

The lion reportedly escaped from a farmhouse into an alleyway in Johan on Thursday. Footage revealed the lion was able to leap over the concrete wall into the alley.

The lion bounced on the woman from behind, and she was knocked to the ground. A man could also be seen running from the property toward the lion with an object in his hand. The lion outran the man and continued down the street, where it attacked the two children.

Lahore Police reported that the lion escaped from an open cage.

Upon recapturing the lion, the owner allegedly took the lion into hiding in another district.

Three people were arrested following the incident, CNN reported, citing Muhammad Faisal Kamran, Deputy Inspector General of Lahore Police Operations. The lion has now been transferred to the care of wildlife authorities.

Local media reported that the man did not have the needed license to hold a lion, and now faces up to 7 years in prison and or a large fine.
