Thirteen civilians were wounded in strikes by the Iran-backed Houthis on the Saudi cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif on Monday, the Saudi-led coalition announced early on Tuesday.
The Saudi-led coalition announced this after the Saudi Civil Defense issued an emergency alert for the Khamis Mushait and Abha areas on Monday night, State TV announced.
Later on Tuesday, the Saudi Arabian Civil Defense also issued an emergency for the areas of Yanbu, Taif, Jeddah, Abha, Jazan, and Alula.
Saudi prince meets CENTCOM chief in Jeddah
Earlier on Monday, Saudi state media said that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed regional developments with US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper in Jeddah, amid escalating hostilities with Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis.
The meeting comes days after three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters the crown prince had sought military assistance from US President Donald Trump to help fight the Houthis.
Trump did not agree to US strikes on the group, but Washington told Riyadh it would provide intelligence-sharing and targeting assistance, the sources added.
