A Board of Peace delegation has briefed national security advisers and senior staff representing the Republican and Democratic leadership of the US House of Representatives and Senate in Washington on the implementation of President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, a senior BoP member told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.
The BoP delegation was led by senior adviser Josh Gruenbaum, while Gen. Mark Schwartz (ret.), its security coordinator, participated remotely.
In their briefing, the BoP delegation described current efforts to implement Trump’s 20-point diplomatic road map and emphasized the determination to work with Congress in a bipartisan manner to advance peace, security, governance, and reconstruction in Gaza.
The meeting was also attended by national security advisers for Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
Netanyahu, BoP head Mladenov meet to discuss Gaza's future
No additional details regarding the discussions or any future congressional engagement were shared.
Nickolay Mladenov, head of the BoP and high representative for Gaza, recently met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and requested that all IDF strikes against Hamas in Gaza stop so that a 14-day ceasefire aimed at kick-starting the demilitarization of Hamas can begin, people familiar with the matter told the Post on Monday.
The meeting between Netanyahu and Mladenov had been “constructive and detailed,” the BoP wrote on X/Twitter, adding that both parties share a common understanding of the ultimate objective in Gaza.
The IDF’s withdrawal from Gaza would only take place once all weapons and military infrastructure, including light weapons, heavy weapons, and tunnels, in Gaza are decommissioned, the BoP said.
