Hezbollah has instructed its members to confront the Lebanese army should it attempt to intervene with the group's activities, a source familiar with the details told The Jerusalem Post.

“The instruction is very clear: if the Lebanese army attempts to dismantle a position or prevent rocket fire, confront them,” the source said.

The directive comes as the Lebanese government has recently begun taking steps against Iranians and members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the country.

Among other measures, Lebanon has announced that Iranian citizens can now only enter the country with a visa, designated the IRGC as an illegal organization, and expelled senior Iranian officials from the country.

Lebanon's move follows Israel's demand to act against regime members operating on Lebanese soil.

IDF kills senior Lebanese Corps IRGC commanders in Beirut

On Sunday, Israel carried out a strike on a hotel in Beirut, killing five senior commanders from the Lebanese Corps of the IRGC’s Quds Force.

The Israel Navy, acting on intelligence from the Military Intelligence Directorate, carried out the operation that eliminated the five commanders in what the IDF described as “a significant and necessary blow to the Iranian presence in Lebanon and to the Hezbollah terrorist organization.”

The source who spoke with the Post emphasized that despite Lebanon’s recent actions against Iran, there are still no signs of dramatic steps by the Lebanese government against Hezbollah itself.

“We see some steps here and there, but real and effective action still doesn’t appear to be on the horizon,” the source said.

An Israeli source added to the Post that UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Wronecka will arrive in Israel on Monday amid the ongoing escalation, marking the first mediator to arrive in the country in attempt to stop the fighting.
