Angelina Jolie visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing into Gaza on Friday, meeting with members of the Red Crescent and other workers delivering humanitarian aid.

Photos and videos of Jolie at the crossing circulated online, with Arab media reporting that she came to assess the situation and called for the expedited delivery of additional aid.

Jolie has a history of humanitarian work through the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, serving as a Goodwill Ambassador from 2001-2012 and as Special Envoy from 2012-2022.

Jolie's humanitarian trip to Ukraine

In November, Jolie visited the Ukrainian city of Kherson, on the frontlines of the Russia-Ukraine war, where she visited a hospital and met with medical staff, families, and volunteers, according to a statement from the Legacy of War Foundation, which facilitated her trip.

"Each situation has its own history, but the human experience is familiar: displacement, loss, and the daily effort to preserve dignity," Jolie said. "Diplomacy and the protection of civilians should not be allowed to fall away in a brutal contest of weapons and technology.”
