US President Donald Trump plans to appoint an American two-star general to head the International Stabilization Force in Gaza, Axios reported on Thursday, citing two US officials and two Israeli officials.

According to the report, the move would expand the US's role in overseeing the ceasefire and reconstruction efforts.

The US has already established a civil-military headquarters in Israel to monitor the truce and coordinate humanitarian aid. White House officials told Axios that no US troops will be deployed in Gaza.

This is a developing story.
