UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York that annexing parts of the West Bank could harm the Abraham Accords between the two countries, a senior Emirati official told N12 in a Friday report.

During a meeting between the two, Zayed stressed the urgent need to end the Gaza war, Emirati state news agency reported the same day.

Zayed emphasized the UAE’s commitment to the Abraham Accords as a cornerstone for a better future in the region, while also underscoring the UAE’s deep concern over recent actions that jeopardize the prospects for a two-state solution,” the N12 report quoted the official as saying.

The Emirati minister also stressed to Netanyahu the need for more humanitarian aid to be delivered to the civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Possible path to end Gaza war, UAE endorses proposal

Additionally, Zayed also briefed Netanyahu on US President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza and to ensure the release of the remaining hostages in captivity. This comes after a CNN report that said a new proposal by the Trump administration would seek to see the release of the last 48 hostages in Gaza in a matter of two days if the agreement is implemented.

The CNN report stated that the proposal was shared with Arab leaders earlier this week, who expressed broad support for it, with CNN citing them saying that "they don't think it's perfect."

Earlier in September, the UAE warned Israel that annexation in the West Bank would constitute a "red line" for Abu Dhabi that would severely undermine the spirit of the Abraham Accords that normalized UAE-Israeli relations.
