In Rust we trust The Suzanne Dellal Center will host a pair of intriguing bilateral dance coproductions, involving Israeli choreographer Ido Tadmor, on October 29. The first work, Engagé, was created by Tadmor and performed by him and Polish counterpart Elwira Piorun. The pair join forces again for Rust, which Tadmor choreographed together with UK-born Israeli Rachel Erdos.Tadmor and Piorun met recently at the Zawirowania Dance Theatre in Warsaw and immediately found a common language.Both works focus on the relationship between a man and a woman, and examine the dynamics between them from various angles. The play is a farcical comedy which tells the story of two people, who with the help of their psychiatrists, are doing their utmost to find a stable romantic relationship.Their paths cross when they meet on a blind date. On the surface, there doesn’t seem much hope for something coming out of the rendezvous – considering Bruce is a bisexual and already in a relationship with another man, and Prudence is somewhat homophobic.Nevertheless, they decide their futures are intertwined. The two move in together but their blossoming love is rudely disturbed when Bob’s old flame, Marla, turns up and tries to rekindle their long-lost love.The Israeli version is directed by Daniel Efrat and stars Aya Eliyahu, Michael Rott and Nir Zlihovski, with music by Nir Lakner.For tickets and more information: (03) 681-2126 and www.hasimta.com Kids’ stuff in Rehovot The Clore Garden of Science at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot is opening its gates every Saturday morning through the end of November, to offer families with children in different age groups some hands-on activity.Visitors will be given a riddle to unravel and code to decipher by means of various exhibits in the garden, with clues dotted around the premises. The families that produce accurate answers will be given a selection of prizes, from posters of dinosaurs to caps and other fun items.There will also be guided tours available, for both the garden and the institute’s EcoSphere facility. The latter houses dozens of species of plants and several rare living creatures, and there is a pool where visitors can stroke the fish.For more information: (08) 934-4528 and davidson.weizmann.ac.il/science-garden Kupferman’s 10 Next Friday, the Kupferman House at Kibbutz Lohamei Hagetaot will mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Israel Prizewinning artist Moshe Kupferman, with a program of events at the late artist’s studio and around the kibbutz.The agenda opens at 11 a.m. with a tour of the kibbutz, and will focus on milestones in Kupferman’s life and his old haunts on the kibbutz.The circuit will end at the Kupferman House, which served as the artist’s studio and now houses a permanent exhibition of some of his works, as well as creations by other artists.Visitors will be able to attend a panel discussion featuring some of the artists whose works are displayed there, as well by the chief curator of the venue, Yona Fisher, and the curator of the current exhibition, Irit Carmon Popper.There will also be tasty sustenance on offer, with items from the fall menu of the kibbutz’s Bayit Vekayit guest house.
