Israeli lawmaker Tzvika Fogel briefly halted a meeting of the Knesset’s National Security Committee, which he chairs, to check on his son, who was at the Sydney Hanukkah event where ten people were killed during a mass shooting.

Fogel’s daughter-in-law and two grandchildren were also at the event. The Otzma Yehudit MK said everyone was okay.

Ten people have been murdered, including Chabad emissary Rabbi Eli Schlanger, and several more were wounded, after a mass shooting targeted a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia, on Sunday.

An annual Hanukkah event run by Chabad

The party, Hanukkah by the Sea, is an annual event run by Chabad of Bondi, where the community lights up the menorah on the first day of the holiday.

Two people were taken into police custody shortly after the event, local law enforcement confirmed.
