A 61-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of incitement to violence during the Tel Aviv protests that happened over the weekend, Israel Police said.
The woman, whose name hasn’t been published, is a resident of northern Israel who chanted the slogan “with spirit and blood, we redeemed Gaza."
These types of messages were part of the reason why, even though the competent authorities legally approved the protest, Israel Police ordered the event stopped and for attendees to disperse.
The statement from the Tel Aviv Police Department also added that the protest was stopped out of fear of disrupting public order.
Activists set Shabbat table on fire during a protest
Demonstrators advocating for an immediate hostage deal held a Shabbat reception on Tel Aviv's main highway on Friday, blocking both directions of the Ayalon and setting a Shabbat table on fire in a dramatic protest.
The police quickly extinguished the fire, and the protesters dispersed.
According to the organizers, the protest was intended to prevent the government from turning away from another opportunity for a deal.
