The United States is seeking a middle ground after Israel expressed concern at the sale of F-35s to Saudi Arabia, senior American officials told N12 on Wednesday night.

Israel is currently the only Middle Eastern nation to hold American F-35s, and Israeli officials expressed concern that the planned sale of F-35s would threaten Israeli military supremacy.

"The Trump administration is committed to a law that states that the United States will maintain the IDF's qualitative advantage in the Middle East. We will not violate this," the senior White House official said.

This is a developing story.
