An IDF tank opened fire on UNIFIL peacekeepers within Lebanese territory, the UN stated on Sunday.
According to UNIFIL, the IDF fired several rounds using heavy machinery, which hit about five meters from the peacekeepers, who were on foot and had to seek shelter.
"Peacekeepers asked for the IDF to stop firing through UNIFIL’s liaison channels," UNIFIL stated.
"They were able to leave safely thirty minutes later, when the Merkava tank withdrew inside the IDF position. Fortunately, no one was injured."
The IDF has not responded to these claims.
