In a milestone for Israeli cinema, FOX Entertainment Studios and Access Entertainment have joined Shari Redstone’s SIPUR Studios, United King Films, and Artomas Communications as producing partners on Our Loves, the latest feature from acclaimed director Avi Nesher.

Inspired by true events, Nesher’s Our Loves is an emotionally gripping story about the enduring strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of love in the face of the horror of the October 7 massacre. Set against a backdrop of violence, uncertainty, and unimaginable loss, the film follows an ensemble of interconnected characters whose lives are forever changed over the course of a single devastating day.

I recently saw the movie in a Jerusalem preview screening, and I found it beautiful and moving, a film about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. It tells a story that is suspenseful, sad, sometimes even funny, and always human. It may even change the way you see the world – and yourself. It’s stunningly photographed and acted, and it needs to be seen on the big screen.

Nesher is one of Israel’s most influential and groundbreaking filmmakers, whose work has helped shape the country’s cinema and elevate it internationally. His films have earned dozens of Israeli Academy Award nominations and multiple wins, with recent features premiering to critical acclaim as official selections at the Toronto International Film Festival. His early films, such as The Troupe and Dizengoff 99, have become cult classics, and his movies include Rage and Glory, Turn Left at the End of the World, The Secrets, The Matchmaker, The Wonders, Past Life, The Other Story, and Image of Victory.

Our Loves, which is scheduled for a theatrical release in Israel this fall, features a cast that includes some of Israel’s top actors, including Shalom Michaelshvili (Saving Shuli), Magi Azarzar (Sirens), Yaniv Biton (Tel Aviv on Fire), Noa Cohen (who starred in the Netflix film Mary), Lena Fraifeld (Valeria is Getting Married), Hadas Yaron (Fill the Void), Kim Or Azulay (Manayek), Lior Miller (Mirage), Leib Levin (Real Estate), and Elad Turgeman (The Policeman’s Daughter), together with breakout newcomer, Daniel Gimpel, and the popular singer, Nunu.

FOX head provides input, oversight to film project

FOX Entertainment Studios has been tracking the project since its inception at SIPUR, with Fernando Szew, president and head of FOX, providing creative input and oversight.  After seeing an early cut of the film, the studio cemented its involvement and brought on Moriah Media, joining SIPUR and United King Films as co-studios on the project. A similar process was followed by Access Entertainment, led by Danny Cohen, which is also joining the film as a co-studio.

SIPUR Studios CEO Emilio Schenker said, “This landmark partnership with industry powerhouses FOX and Access serves as a strong testament to this story’s ability to transcend borders. Only Avi Nesher could tell this story with the humanity and sensitivity it deserves, creating an emotional and deeply moving film that, while touching on the most painful day in Israel’s history, tells an engaging universal story about humanity in the face of crisis and survival. The decision by these major global partners to join the film as co-studios, in such an unprecedented move for Israeli cinema, further reinforces our belief that Our Loves has a potent theme that will connect with audiences everywhere.”

FOX’s Szew said, “Avi Nesher has created a deeply moving film with Our Loves. This is the kind of story that transcends borders and speaks to something profoundly universal - one that audiences, no matter where they are from, can connect to on an emotional and human level. Loving isn't always easy, but it is the greatest of human conditions, and Avi and the cast do a masterful job of demonstrating that. From the moment I learned of this film and saw the vision that SIPUR had for it, we were determined to have FOX Entertainment Studios be involved in bringing this powerful film to audiences and tastemakers around the world.”

Access Entertainment president praises 'Our Loves'

Danny Cohen, president of Access Entertainment, former BBC Director of Television, and the executive producer of the Oscar-winning films Conclave and The Zone of Interest, commented, “Our Loves encapsulates the extraordinary creative power of Israeli cinema and storytelling. But our early conversations with SIPUR made it clear that they believed this film was not simply a local production, but a cinematic work with genuine global potential. Just as with other major films Access Entertainment has supported, I felt compelled by the world of these characters - heartbroken with them, fearful for them, and deeply moved by their profound human experience. This is more than a story about a single historical moment. It is an extraordinary, character-driven, cinematic journey that reveals how ordinary people respond when catastrophe strikes, whether in their personal lives or across an entire nation. It is a story that deserves to be seen globally.”

Moshe Edery, producer and co-owner of Cinema City and NMC Group and CEO of United King Films, noted: “This deal is a significant and exciting achievement for Israeli cinema. It proves that even in these challenging times, Israeli stories have the power to cross borders and resonate with wide audiences around the world. Our Loves is, on the one hand, a deeply Israeli story, but at the same time one that touches on universal themes such as unconditional love, regret, and the right to a better life. We are incredibly proud of Avi Nesher and the film and eagerly look forward to its encounter with audiences.”

Our Loves was produced by United King Films, SIPUR Studios, Artomas Communications, and Access Entertainment, with United’s Moshe Edery and Leon Edery, SIPUR’s Schenker and Gideon Tadmor, Artomas’s Nesher, and Access’s Cohen as producers. Sipur’s Shari Redstone, FOX Entertainment Studios’ Szew, and Moriah Media’s Jim Berk and Sheldon Rabinowitz are among the executive producers of the film.
