One person died and five others were injured in an overnight police chase in southern Israel after their getaway car flipped over, the Israel Police said on Tuesday morning.
All six were Bedouins between the ages of 17 and 57.
According to the police, the six attempted to steal a gas station safe in Dimona on Monday night, after robbing another gas station on Highway 90 in the Arava earlier that evening.
Five arrested, transported to receive medical treatment
After receiving reports of the robbery attempt, the Israel Police arrived at the scene. The six immediately fled in a car with forged license plates, triggering a chase that lasted hundreds of meters.
The driver eventually lost control, hit a street lamp, and flipped the vehicle, killing one of the passengers. The deceased individual was 44 years old.
One of the five injured attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly caught by officers on scene.
All five were arrested and transported to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba for medical treatment.
