Three Israeli civilians crossed into Syrian territory near Mount Hermon overnight Tuesday before IDF troops located them, returned them to Israel, and transferred them to police custody, the military said.
The IDF condemned the crossing as a criminal act that disrupted operations and endangered troops.
The incident was the latest in a string of similar breaches.
On July 27, the IDF detained two Israelis who had crossed the border, while Syrian media separately reported that troops had arrested a Syrian citizen during an overnight raid in the Quneitra area.
According to the military, troops dispatched to Mount Hermon located the two, returned them to Israeli territory, and transferred them to police.
IDF detains three settler activists who breached Syrian border
On July 29, the IDF said it had detained three Israeli settler activists from the "HaBashan Pioneers" settler movement after they breached the Syrian border in the Mount Hermon area.
However, an earlier report from Army Radio said the activists were only in Syrian territory for several hours on Wednesday morning before being located by the IDF.
Another two civilians were returned by troops on July 30.
The crossings have largely involved activists seeking to establish Israeli settlements in Syrian territory. Military officials have warned that locating and retrieving them diverts troops and surveillance resources from border-defense operations and risks exposing both the civilians and soldiers sent after them to attack.
