The Finance Ministry announced a national plan to invest NIS 3 billion in the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and redevelopment of the Galilee following many years of war that have placed immense pressure on the region.

The objective of the investment is to reenergize the region demographically and economically by encouraging young families to move there and by providing economic stimulus.

The proposed plan has a broad set of tools it tends to lean on, including "expanding the housing supply and rent subsidies for reservists."

It will also offer grants for purchasing apartments with a residency requirement and land allocation for members of the defense establishment, the Ministry announced.

Government to develop Galilee region

The government also announced that it would invest in public institutions in the Galilee region, develop industrial zones and growth engines, and create programs to encourage demand in the core cities.

Finance Minister Smotrich said, “The plan we laid out today is a strategic move intended to change the future of the Galilee."

"The goal is to keep young people in the north, attract a strong new Zionist population, strengthen the local economy, and turn the Galilee once again into a center of growth, settlement, and national resilience,” he added.
