An Israeli civilian was rescued from Jericho, West Bank, on Thursday, after being seen walking through Area A, posing a danger to her life, Walla learned.
She was further transferred to the Israeli security forces by Civil Administration forces, who provided her with protection.
The circumstances of her entry into Jericho are still under investigation, and the incident has been transferred to Israel Police for further investigation.
A similar incident occured on December 31, when a 22-year-old Israeli woman was rescued from Jericho.
The Israeli Civil Administration received reports of the woman wandering around the city of Jericho, which is under the control of the Palestinian Authority, and sent officers from the Jericho Coordination and Liaison Directorate to retrieve her.
The woman was then handed over to the IDF to be transported out of Area A, and the case was handed over to the Israel Police for investigation.
In a slightly different incident of Israeli women in the Jericho area, an Israeli woman was abducted from the area on December 19.
Israeli forces rescued the woman unharmed after the IDF was dispatched to the scene.
The Israeli Civil Administration worked to contact the woman while security forces worked to rescue her.
Israelis in Area A
On Monday, Palestinian Authority security personnel opened fire on an Israeli civilian who accidentally entered Area A near Nablus, in the West Bank, the military stated.
No injuries were reported, and forces were sent to the scene to secure the area.
“While making a U-turn to return to the main road, he noticed three terrorists near the checkpoint at the entrance to Nablus. One of them jumped at the vehicle and fired a gun at him,” Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan said.
The army reiterated that entry by Israelis into Area A is prohibited and dangerous, urging the public to avoid Palestinian Authority cities without authorization or coordination.
