Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu (Otzma Yehudit) will visit North Macedonia as part of his efforts to strengthen international diplomatic ties through interfaith dialogue, heritage, and culture.
The invitation came at the tail end of Eliyahu's meeting earlier this week with North Macedonia's ambassador to Israel, Mr. Shpend Sadiku, at the Knesset to discuss potential cooperation between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, Eliyahu accepted Sadiku's invitation to visit North Macedonia as an official guest of the government.
The potential cooperation between the two countries and Eliyahu's visit will emphasize "shared values and respect for religious and cultural heritage."
Israel and North Macedonia established diplomatic relations on December 7, 1995, and have maintained strong ties since.
Israel sends medical delegation to North Macedonia after deadly fire
In March 2025, a medical delegation from Sheba Medical Center traveled to North Macedonia after 59 people were killed in a nightclub fire.
The delegation included doctors, nurses, burn and orthopedic specialists, and Israel’s non-resident ambassador to North Macedonia, Simona Frankel.
“Israel stands with the Macedonian people in these difficult moments following the nightclub fire disaster,” said Frankel. “The departing medical delegation will do its utmost to assist local medical teams in treating the injured and mitigating the severe impact on the local healthcare system as it deals with a mass casualty event.”
