Tom Barrack, the Trump administration's ambassador to Turkey and special envoy to Syria, is expected to arrive in Israel in the coming days, a source told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.
Barrack is expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials, the source added.
Netanyahu, Ortagus meet as Israel-Lebanon tensions flare
The upcoming meeting with Barrack follows the prime minister's meeting last week with US President Donald Trump’s envoy for Lebanon affairs, Morgan Ortagus, amid intensifying border tensions with Lebanon, according to Israeli officials.
Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Intelligence Chief Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder joined the meeting. The talks come one year after a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which Israeli officials say is eroding.
This is a developing story.“If there is no dramatic change by the end of the agreement period, another round of fighting in the north is almost inevitable," a security official told The Jerusalem Post.
