A woman was killed in a car fire suspected to have been caused by an explosion on Highway 73 near Nahalal on Wednesday.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and medics found the woman at the scene, unresponsive and with multiple traumatic injuries. They declared her dead at the scene. Two additional bystanders were examined but did not require medical treatment.

MDA paramedic Maor Atadgi, who was present at the scene, said, "We received a report of a car explosion. We arrived quickly and saw the vehicle on fire with debris scattered around it, and two other cars had been damaged."

"While the firefighters were extinguishing the fire, we found a woman without vital signs and with multiple injuries. We conducted medical tests and had to declare her dead at the scene. Two bystanders who were nearby were checked by MDA teams and didn’t require further tests or treatment at the hospital."

Circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation

A firefighting and rescue team was dispatched to the scene to extinguish the burning vehicle. Police are currently at the location, along with rescue forces, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Meanwhile, Route 73 has been closed to traffic in both directions, with police directing drivers to alternative routes.
