The former military advocate general, Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, was released from Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital on Friday morning after nearly a month.

She is expected to be summoned for questioning in the near future on suspicions that she leaked a video of abuse at the Sde Teiman detention facility, and then attempted to cover it up, police said.

Her interrogation was paused during her hospitalization following a reported suicide attempt at home in early November. N12 reported at the time that Tomer-Yerushalmi tried to swallow around 20 sleeping pills.

"She tried to commit suicide; her life is not rosy," Police Commissioner Daniel Levy said at the time, adding that Tomer-Yerushalmi's reported transgressions "must be investigated."

“It’s true, she committed an offense, and we are investigating. She has an influence on what the army looks like, on what the soldiers look like, and we send our children into a system in which they must feel safe," he added.

Experts consulted during her hospitalization said she was at very high risk for further self-harm attempts, citing the trauma and severe public pressure she faced in recent weeks. Police said the probe is continuing, and further investigative actions are expected.

Investigation is at an advanced state, indictment expected soon

Police intend to confront Tomer-Yerushalmi with materials collected so far, including evidence from the period she was hospitalized and data extracted from her cellphone, which was located about four days after she went missing at a beach. Investigators forensically downloaded the device and associated cloud content for processing and review.

“The investigation is at an advanced stage, and a serious indictment is expected soon,” a source familiar with the case told Maariv.

According to the source who spoke to Maariv, materials retrieved include evidence related to the Sde Teiman video leak. The source said findings to date strengthen suspicions against Tomer-Yerushalmi, and that the Tel Aviv District Prosecution is leading an advanced investigation with additional steps underway.

This is a developing story.
