Two soldiers were mildly wounded in a stabbing attack near the Israeli settlement of Ateret in the West Bank on Tuesday morning, and the terrorist who perpetrated the incident was killed, according to the IDF.

"A short while ago, following a report that was received regarding a suspect near Ateret, IDF soldiers were dispatched to the area," the IDF stated. "While confronting the suspect, he began to stab the soldiers, who responded with fire and eliminated him."

The military added that the incident is under investigation and that additional forces were dispatched to the scene.

Magen David Adom (MDA), which noted that the incident occured on Route 465, said that its paramedics subsequently arrived at the scene and provided medical care to the wounded men, both of whom were around 20 years old.

The emergency medical service added that it evacuated the wounded men to Sheba Tel Hashomer Hospital.

In a later statement, the IDF noted that the two wounded were soldiers. The suspect stabbed them during a security check following a search after he had been caught by Ateret's security cameras.

According to the military, the cameras revealed he had come from the area of Bayt Rima.

Two males with superficial injuries

“We arrived quickly at the scene and saw two males walking around fully conscious, with superficial injuries to their bodies," MDA medicycle unit paramedic Bezalel Ben Hamo and MDA EMT Orly Shlomo said. "We provided initial medical treatment and evacuated them in MDA ambulances to the hospital in mild condition. The terrorist was neutralized.”

This incident follows an earlier terror attack, less than half a day prior, on Monday night, where a female soldier was lightly wounded in a ramming attack at an intersection in the area of Hebron.

The suspect involved in that incident was also subsequently located by security forces. Upon attempting to flee in the vehicle used to carry out the attack, an action the IDF and Shin Bet said endangered the forces at the scene, the suspect was shot dead.
