Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, hosted its third Day of Prayer on Wednesday, bringing together lawmakers, foreign dignitaries, pastors, and faith leaders from around the world to affirm the growing alliance between Jewish and Christian communities.

The initiative, the brainchild of MK Tatiana Mazarsky, took shape in the early days of the Israel-Hamas war and is organized in cooperation with the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast under the guidance of Albert Veksler.

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee told participants it was “a privilege” to attend the event in the Knesset as Israel and its Christian allies celebrate “God’s wonderful partnership between the Jewish and Christian people,” a partnership he said “is more important than it’s ever been” and also “under a threat, the likes of which it has never been.”

Huckabee urges Christian prayer and action for Israel

Huckabee stressed that solidarity must begin with prayer but cannot end there, urging believers to become “voices of strength, voices of reason, voices of truth.”

Drawing on more than 50 years of visits to Israel, he cited what he described as miracles: the “dry bones” of biblical prophecy coming to life, the desert blooming through Israeli innovation, and the limited casualties in Israel during the recent 12-day war with Iran, despite massive missile barrages.

He recounted the story of a building at Soroka Hospital in Beersheba that was evacuated the day before it was struck by a ballistic missile, calling it an example of divine prompting combined with human responsibility.

The ambassador also highlighted Israel’s contribution to US medical, agricultural, military, and intelligence capabilities, calling the Jewish-Christian partnership vital “not just for Israel, but equally important for the United States.”
