Meny Godard, 73, was murdered alongside his wife, Ayelet, on October 7, his remains taken into Gaza by terrorists, before finally being returned to Israel on November 13, 2025, over two years later.

Some of his remains were located inside a refrigerator at a Palestinian Islamic Jihad post by the IDF in March 2025.

Godard lived on Kibbutz Be’eri with his wife and was “the most devoted and loving father and grandfather,” according to an N12 news site report.

He was a professional soccer player in the 1970s before enlisting in the army and fighting in the 1973 Yom Kippur War as a soldier in an armored reconnaissance battalion.

He moved to Be’eri when he was 13 years old and worked throughout his career in various positions on the kibbutz. He served as a printer at Be’eri’s printing house, managed the kibbutz’s department store and pool, and also worked as the chief accountant.

As an avid soccer fan, he adored the Hapoel Tel Aviv soccer team and played and coached the local soccer club.
His children describe him as “a family man who cared for everyone around him” and a “man of the sea.”

Wife's final call was to scream that terrorists murdered husband

On October 7, Ayelet Godard had called their children in a panic, screaming that terrorists had murdered her husband and that she was hiding in a bush trying her best to avoid capture. That call was the last her children would hear from her – Ayelet’s body was found some time later.

The IDF confirmed Godard’s death on December 8, 2023.
