About 550,000 Palestinian civilians have evacuated Gaza City out of the nearly one million who were there before the current operation started, the IDF reported Sunday night.

During the initial stages of evacuations a couple of weeks ago, about 70,000 civilians fled.

By early last week, about 250,000 had evacuated, and by the end of last week, about 400,000 had left.

At that pace, most of the remaining civilian population could be evacuated within weeks, and if there is a sudden “break in the dam,” possibly much faster.

Hamas is still attempting to prevent civilians from fleeing, but it is having greater difficulty in doing so as more of Gaza City is infiltrated by Israeli ground troops and with an enormous quantity of aerial, artillery, and tank attacks blanketing any Hamas activity, the IDF said.

Israel encountering more resistance on world stage than battlefield

Militarily, the IDF has encountered little resistance, killing only a few dozen Hamas fighters for the entire operation to date.

Diplomatically, Israel is facing a “tsunami” of powerful countries recognizing Palestine as a state in retaliation for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to continue the Israel-Hamas War.

Meanwhile, 10 soldiers were injured when a military vehicle in northern Gaza overturned on Sunday morning, the IDF reported. They were evacuated to various hospitals, it said. As of press time, their names had not been released.
