A Haredi protest against the mandatory draft blocked the Highway 4 exit toward Bnei Brak in Jerusalem on Thursday.
The police said that rioters began to disrupt order by blocking the traffic lanes near the String Bridge at the city's entrance.
Following this situation, the protest was declared illegal, and officers issued an order to evacuate the area.
The police statement explained that "the entrance and exit from the city in the String Bridge area have been blocked to vehicle traffic and the forces are working to restore order."
This protest is one of the several expected across Thursday, with many ultra-Orthodox groups announcing a day of mobilizations against the arrest of haredi draft dodgers.
Several weeks of haredi protests
On Wednesday night, two soldiers were slightly wounded by tear gas as a haredi protest stormed an IDF convoy transporting detained draft dodgers, the military said.
The IDF vehicle encountered a demonstration on the Kfar Yona intersection while taking the haredi draft dodgers to a military prison.
During the incident, one of the detainees managed to escape. Meanwhile, the convoy continued its journey after a slight detour.
On September 11, another protest blocked Highway 4, Israeli media reported.
The protests, led by hardline political organization Peleg Yerushalmi, were declared illegal by the police, who said they would begin dispersing the crowd shortly, Israeli public broadcaster KAN reported.
