A three-year-old boy was pronounced dead at Soroka Medical Center after being found unconscious inside a locked car in Beersheba on Thursday afternoon.
Magen David Adom paramedics had attempted to provide medical treatment to the unconscious child.
MDA stated that he had been left in the vehicle for "an extended period."
MDA was forced to transfer him to the hospital for treatment while in critical condition, undergoing CPR.
However, medics were unable to revive the child and were forced to declare him dead.
A similar incident occured in May 2024, when a six-month-old was left behind in a car in Haifa.
Pango's new awareness-raising system
In August, transportation app Pango launched a new initiative aimed at raising awareness about children being forgotten in vehicles.
Each time a user activates parking in a blue-and-white zone, a pop-up banner appears on the screen reminding drivers to check that no one has been left in the back seat. The message displayed reads: “A reminder for me to make sure I didn’t forget anyone in the back seat,” along with a button that says, “I checked, thank you.”
