Staff-Sergeant Amit Cohen was killed while fighting in the southern Gaza Strip, the IDF announced on Monday.
St.-Sgt. Cohen, 19, from Holon, served in the Golani Brigade's 13th Battalion.
Cohen was posthumously promoted from sergeant to staff-sergeant.
"His bravery, determination, and courage will always guide us," Shai Keinan, the Mayor of Holon, wrote on Facebook following the announcement.
"The entire city of Holon mourns this great loss and embraces his family and loved ones."
Cohen left behind his parents and two younger siblings.
Additionally, an officer in Cohen's Battalion was severely injured in the same incident.
He was evacuated for medical treatment, and his family has been notified.
The cause of the incident is currently being investigated.
IDF casualties since October 7
According to the IDF's tally, the death of Cohen raises the total of soldiers killed on or since October 7 of 2023 to 894.
Some 450 of this number were killed since the start of the military's ground operations in the Strip on October 27.
