National Missions Minister Orit Strock (Religious Zionist Party) said that she supported expanding military operations in Gaza even if this endangers the hostages’ lives, in a radio interview she had with Kol BaRama on Monday.
Strock told the news station that operations should be expanded even in areas of the Gaza Strip that are designated as “do not touch zones” due to intelligence indicating the presence of both living and dead hostages in those sections.
“There should be no ‘do not touch zones’ in Gaza. To win this war, we need to take control of these areas as well,” she said, adding that the IDF must fight against Hamas and other Gaza terrorist groups in all parts of the enclave and defeat them.
“A great effort should be made to ensure that the hostages there are not harmed, but it is wrong to avoid defeating Hamas in those areas,” Strock said in response to the interviewer asking her whether she believed her approach is endangering the hostages’ lives.
She said that human lives are also at risk when rockets are fired or soldiers are targeted for kidnapping attempts. “I don’t know how to make such a moral calculation where I determine whose life is more important.”
Hostage Families Forum denounces Strock's comments
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum released a statement on Monday denouncing Strock’s comments.
“Strock is leading the state toward sacrificing the hostages, and with them, the values upon which the State of Israel was built – all in the name of a senseless and endless war, a war that must end for the sake of the entire people of Israel,” the forum wrote on X/Twitter.
“Normalizing their captivity, Strock is gambling with the fate of the hostages. This is not surprising coming from someone who has long been an obstinate obstacle to the rescue of the hostages. This is a disgrace to the government,” the forum added.

Strock opposed the most recent ceasefire and hostage release deal from January to March 2025.
The Forum for Ending the War, a group comprised of bereaved parents of fallen soldiers, also denounced Strock’s comments.
She is “sending our children to die without reason. For her, the blood of our children is worthless. This cannot continue,” it wrote.
