A large forest fire broke out in the Jerusalem Hills on Wednesday afternoon, with multiple firefighting teams responding at the location, Israel's Fire and Rescue Authority confirmed.

Reports of a fire were first received at 5:30 p.m., the authority added.

At least eight firefighting aircraft, along with other firefighting teams, are operating to control the blaze, the statement added.

Footage shared on social media indicates disruptions to traffic due to the blaze.

Route 386 was closed in both directions in the vicinity of Tzur Hadassah, authorities confirmed.

This is a developing story.
