President Trump’s ambassador to Turkey and Syria envoy, Tom Barrack, is expected to arrive in Israel on Monday, where he will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials.
According to a source who spoke with The Jerusalem Post, Barrack is coming to discuss the Syrian issue with Prime Minister Netanyahu, define Israel’s red lines, and find ways to ensure they are not crossed.
Officials in the US administration were displeased with Israel’s recent activity on Syrian territory. President Trump said a few days ago that he believes the Syrian president will do a good job. “I believe in him,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Common enemies
Barrack and other senior American officials believe that President al-Sharaa’s conduct following the attack on US soldiers on Saturday reinforced the notion that Israelis and Syrians share common enemies and that their interests should align.
In an interview with the Post at the Washington Conference last week, Tom Barrack said he believes that a security agreement between Syria and Israel will ultimately be signed.
