WWE star Hulk Hogan may have died as a result of a mistake during one of his surgeries, his wife told TMZ Sports ahead of the release of her husband’s autopsy.

The wrestling legend’s phrenic nerve was “compromised” during his most recent surgery.

Sky’s comments came before the release of the completed autopsy.

An occupational therapist, according to TMZ, told police arriving on the scene of Hogan’s death about the surgical mistake.

The phrenic nerve “controls your diaphragm and is essential to your ability to breathe,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Hogan’s daughter Brooke posted on Instagram, “FACT: I’ve 100% gotten legit calls from professionals — from police officials to nurses that were supposedly with my dad on the day of his death telling ME I need to see body cam footage and I need to get a hold of the 911 tapes because they supposedly contain information that could potentially shed enough light to change the narrative we/I/everyone’s been hearing.

“Those same professionals feel so passionately about what they witnessed, they have continued to contact me and push me to find specific answers to this very day. They are quite literally putting their careers at risk because they feel so compelled to do the right thing.”

Hulk Hogan's death

Hogan died on July 24, aged 71, and his death was ruled a heart attack by the  Pinellas County Forensic Science Center, according to Page Six.

Despite his professional work in the sporting world, Hogan was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and had a history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia, according to the New York Post.

The family told the media they were delaying Hogan’s cremation in hopes of getting answers about his death.
