At the forefront of Israel’s emergency management systems is one man – Eli Bin, the CEO of Magen David Adom, which is now celebrating 95 years. He has revolutionized the Israeli emergency response times through his groundbreaking systems that are among some of the most sophisticated and advanced in the world.

Bin started at MDA as a youth volunteer at only 15 years old, and after finishing his service in the IDF, he returned to the organization, where he played a pivotal role in reducing their response times. He became the first CEO to rise from within the ranks of MDA employees, and despite his management role, continues to serve with MDA teams on the front lines.

Bin believes firmly in leading by example. Rather than letting his role as CEO hold him back from continuing to stand on the front lines, he is shoulder-to-shoulder with teams at the sites of emergency. No matter the situation, whether war, terror, COVID-19, or October 7, Eli Bin is there keeping Israel safe.

Keeping Israel safe

Under Bin, MDA was affirmed as Israel’s sole first responder dispatchers by the Health Ministry. In a speech after the Ministry showed its confidence in MDA, Bin said, “With the implementation of this ministry ruling, Israelis only need to call Magen David Adom’s emergency dispatch number, 1-0-1, to be assured that the nearest five first responders will be sent to the scene quickly.”

Bin also pioneered the most advanced and protected national blood bank in the world, creating safe blood storage for both the IDF and Israeli hospitals in case of natural disasters, chemical warfare, and missiles.
