Police arrested four men on Thursday night after an explosive device detonated at a synagogue in the center of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.

The suspects, all from Tilburg, were apprehended when police stopped a car that was driving suspiciously close to another synagogue. The description of the driver matched that of one of the perpetrators from the earlier attack.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion, which occurred around 3:40 a.m., according to Rotterdam police.

New Shi'ite group claims responsibility

A new Shi’ite terror group, calling itself Ashab Al Yamim, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

This group has recently launched a series of attacks on Jewish institutions, including a bombing at a synagogue in Liège, Belgium, and another attack in Greece.

It remains unconfirmed whether the four suspects, aged 17 to 19, had plans to target other synagogues, and police are seeking further information from witnesses.

In response to the incident, the police have increased surveillance at other synagogues throughout the city and have initiated an extensive investigation.

Concerns about potential attacks against Jewish communities worldwide have heightened since joint US-Israeli operations against Iran began in late February.

Earlier this week, a synagogue in Michigan was targeted during a vehicle-ramming incident involving an active shooter. Additionally, several synagogues in Canada have also faced attacks, including targeted shootings, over the past month.
