Antisemitic UK doctor Rahmeh Aladwan has been suspended for 15 months after a tribunal found her conduct to fall “well below the professional standards of a registered doctor.”

Aladwan - a trainee in trauma and orthopedics – was referred to the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) by the General Medical Council (GMC) on October 7, 2025, in order to determine her fitness to practice.

The legal counsel for the GMC, Emma Gilsenan, submitted to the hearing a risk assessment of the doctor’s social media posts on X/Twitter, in which she “justifies terrorism, denies sexual violence, includes antisemitic conspiracy theories, misuses Holocaust and Nazi imagery, and expresses support for proscribed groups and terrorists [including October 7].”

Gilsenan also outlined a number of social media posts that Aladwan published since 25 September (the date of her interim tribunal), including in relation to the attack on a Manchester synagogue on October 2, which she said showed an escalation in the tone and level of Aladwan’s communications.

Gilsenan said that, considering all the information and applying the correct and straightforward legal test, “it is unconscionable to consider that Aladwan should be permitted to continue to practice,” adding that there is no human right under Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) that permits someone to publish antisemitic statements.

She also found that Aladwan’s choice to regularly post abusive, inflammatory, and antisemitic remarks online in a manner calculated to provoke a negative reaction is in breach of GMC guidelines on the use of social media.

Aladwan’s counsel claimed that “there is not a shred of evidence that Dr. Aladwan’s activities have had any impact on patient safety or her ability to fulfill her duties as a doctor,” adding that “it is not in the public interest for the MPTS to censor well-performing doctors because of the pressure brought to bear by lobbying groups who want to suppress Palestinians’ criticisms of Israel.”

He also reminded the tribunal that the Interim Order Tribunal on 25 September had not thought it necessary to impose an interim order.

Aladwan’s counsel claimed that her posts fell under the “category of legitimate political speech.” He also said her statement on "Jewish supremacism" is clearly about Zionism, which constitutes protected political speech.

A high risk of Aladwan re-offending

Following the presentations of both counsels, the tribunal concluded that Alawan’s statements exceed the description of political speech, which would be protected under Article 10 ECHR. It also found that there is a high risk of Aladwan re-offending, given she continued to post material after prior warnings and also denies the allegations, suggesting she lacks “sufficient insight.”

The tribunal subsequently decided to suspend her for 15 months. Following the suspension, Aladwan took to social media to blame the “Israeli and Jewish lobby” for deciding “who can and cannot practice medicine in Britain.”
“Free Palestine and Britain from Jewish supremacy,” she added. Since then, she has continued to post extensively about the Jewish lobby, Jewish supremacy, and denying that she can be antisemitic because “Palestinians are Semites.”

UK Lawyers for Israel – which first raised concerns about Aladwan in early 2024 – welcomed the tribunal’s decision, noting that “for many months, we have been deeply concerned about her repeated use of antisemitic tropes, extremist rhetoric, and posts appearing to praise terrorist violence.”

“Such conduct is wholly incompatible with the standards expected of a medical professional in the United Kingdom.”
Campaign Against Antisemitism also praised the decision.

“Aladwan has been on an unapologetic crusade to harass the Jewish community, and, until now, she has shockingly managed to do so without facing any consequences. It is inconceivable that a Jewish person would feel safe receiving treatment from this doctor.”
