WhatsApp, YouTube, and Facebook remain the most used apps in Israel, according to the Israel Internet Association's annual report, which was published on Sunday morning.

WhatsApp, which is used by 99% of the Israeli population, remained the most popular digital platform, a modest 1% increase from 2024, the report revealed.

YouTube followed in second place with 97%, a slight dip from 98% last year. Facebook retained its third-place spot with 88%, also showing a modest increase.

Instagram, also owned by Meta, continued to grow, with a 6% increase compared to 2024, reaching 81% usage this year. Telegram and TikTok showed consistent usage, with increases of 1-3% compared to last year, reaching 71% and 57% usage in 2025, respectively.

Daily use of these platforms was also high. Two-thirds (67%) of respondents used Instagram daily, 55% used TikTok, and 44% used Telegram.

Interestingly, X/Twitter, owned by Elon Musk, recorded a 5% decline this year, with only 32% of the general population using it.

However, it was still popular among younger and older age groups, with 34% usage reported by both the 18-22 and 60+ age brackets, and daily usage rates of 26% and 31%, respectively.

LinkedIn had also seen steady growth, with 36% of the general population using it, a 2% increase from last year.

However, it remained more popular among middle-aged groups: 33% of those aged 23-29, 43% of those aged 30-39, and 42% of those aged 40-49 report using it, compared to just 25% of those aged 18-22 and 28% of those aged 60+.

Among the Arab population, the usage statistics were similar, but it is noteworthy that YouTube led with 100% usage, with 55% of respondents using it daily.

WhatsApp follows closely with 98% usage, and 99% of users report daily usage. Facebook usage remains high, with 93% overall and 72% daily. 71% of Israeli-Arabs reported using TikTok, with 61% using it daily —almost identical to last year's data —reflecting greater TikTok usage among the Arab population than in the general population.

Telegram usage among the Arab community is also high at 71%, up 5% from last year, with 32% using it daily. X/Twitter usage stands at 41%, and LinkedIn usage is at 39%.

Artificial intelligence

In 2025, the Index also measured the public's use of artificial intelligence services, particularly large language models (AI chatbots), which have become widely accessible.

ChatGPT ranks fourth in the general usage index for social networks and online services in Israel, with 85% usage and 46% daily usage.

Among younger age groups (18-29), ChatGPT is the most popular AI service, with 92% usage, placing it third overall, surpassing even Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. However, among those aged 60+, only 67% report using it.

Other notable AI services include Google’s Gemini (49%) and Microsoft’s Copilot (28%). Overall, 70% of Israelis use AI services regularly (either daily or several times a week), while only 11% report not using them at all.

In the religious and ultra-Orthodox Jewish populations, 66% of users report using AI services, with 78% using ChatGPT, 51% using Gemini, and 22% using Copilot. 15% of users in this group report not using any AI services.

In the Arab community, 88% use ChatGPT, with 46% using it daily and 27% using it several times a week.

Gemini usage stands at 53%, and Copilot at 35%. Overall, 74% of the Arab population uses AI services, compared with 66% among the Jewish population. Only 9% of Arab users report not using AI services, compared to 11% in the Jewish population.
