First lady Melania Trump appeared on Fox on Tuesday amid ongoing tensions between Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and US civilians, which have resulted in two deaths in the first month of 2026.

"We need to unify. We need to unify. I'm calling for unity," the first lady said, adding that her husband, US President Donald Trump, spoke with both the mayor of Minneapolis and the state's Governor Tim Walz on Monday.

"They are working together to make it peaceful and without riots or violence," she said. "So please, if you protest, protest in peace."

Melania Trump made these statements while promoting her upcoming documentary, Melania, which is expected to be released on June 30.

"This story was never told before," the first lady said.

The first lady's upcoming documentary film

The documentary follows her during the 20 days leading up to Trump's 2025 inauguration.

She also discussed interacting with the Bidens during the inauguration, saying there were "very nice...it is a very special day that we spent together in the Capitol."

Regarding her relationship with the president and his duties, she said, "I give him my advice, I tell him what I think. Sometimes he listens, and sometimes he doesn't. But I support him."

Melania Trump hosted a private White House screening on Saturday of a new film documenting her life in the 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump’s second inauguration, the White House said.

Saturday's East Room screening followed the president's tariff threat to Canada, defense of federal agents after a fatal shooting in Minnesota, and preparation for a winter storm barreling through the southern US.

The movie, Melania, is set for a global release on January 30. Saturday's showing was the first time the president, her family, and close friends saw the film in full, said Marc Beckman, the first lady’s outside adviser and agent.

The film offers rare behind-the-scenes access to the first lady, who has kept a low public profile during her husband’s second term. The trailer opens on Inauguration Day in January 2025, showing her donning a navy wide-brimmed hat for the ceremony at the US Capitol. It also depicts her role as an adviser to the president, including a moment in which she encourages him to emphasize “peacemaker and unifier” in his inaugural address.
