US Vice President JD Vance is to visit Israel on Tuesday, the country's airport authority said in a statement on Monday, announcing preparations for his arrival at Tel Aviv's airport.

Israel Airports Authority said traffic disruptions around the airport were expected between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. local time and that some flights would be moved to another terminal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that he will discuss regional challenges and opportunities with Vance during his visit to Israel.

During his address to the Knesset in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said that together with US President Donald Trump, he expected to forge peace agreements in the region.

Vance to discuss future of Gaza ceasefire

Alognside Vance, US envoys, Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, were expected to push to shore up the truce and then start talks on the next, more difficult, phase of the 20-step plan during their visit.

High-level US diplomacy in the region, with talks also due later on Monday with Hamas in Egypt, underscores the importance of cementing the ceasefire to Trump, who last week proclaimed "the historic dawn of a new Middle East."

Trump himself commented on the Hamas ceasefire violations, saying that the "ceasefire in Gaza would be taken care of quickly" in comments to the press on Monday.

"They’re going to be nice, and if they’re not... we're going to eradicate them if we have to," he said ahead of meetings with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. "They'll be eradicated — and they know that."

He added that at this time, he has not told Israel to resume strikes in Gaza and that the US was "taking lots of steps to maintain ceasefire."
