What does a new immigrant encounter upon arriving at Ben Gurion Airport, not as a tourist, but as a future citizen? The answer is quite a bit. The State of Israel is dedicated to the successful integration of new immigrants and allocates substantial resources to promote Aliyah and aid the transition. Financial support is only one aspect. Here are some additional benefits new olim can expect:

Absorption Kit (Sal Klita): Managed by the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, this encompasses cash provided to new immigrants upon arrival. The sum varies depending on family status, age, and other factors. After opening a bank account, the ministry continues to offer support through direct transfers for several months.

Free Health Insurance: New immigrants are entitled to state-funded health coverage from their chosen HMO for the initial six months in Israel. “In addition to being free, the insurance becomes effective from the moment the immigrant arrives in Israel and includes all necessary medical treatments.”

Hebrew Ulpan: Understanding the significance of Hebrew, Israel provides six months of complimentary intensive Hebrew classes at a dedicated institution known as an ulpan. “The capability to communicate effectively will greatly influence the speed of the immigrant’s integration into Israel.”

Support for Lone Soldiers: Immigrants who come alone and enlist in the IDF receive additional assistance from the government and military, including connections with host families for emotional and practical support during their service.

Customs and Tax Breaks: Immigrants enjoy exemptions from customs and taxes for many electronic devices and even vehicles.

Rent Assistance and Discounts: Immigrants can benefit from government-supported rent and municipal tax discounts before determining where to live.

Education Aid: Families with children receive help with school fees and, in certain instances, scholarships for higher education.
